Why Candid Moments Make the Best Wedding Memories | Rachel & Conor’s Cardiff Wedding

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of photographing weddings across South Wales, it’s that the best memories often happen when no one’s posing for the camera. It’s the laughter you share with your mates, the quiet hand squeezes, the absolute carnage on the dance floor & all the real, unscripted moments that truly tell the story of your day.

And if ever there was a wedding that proved this, it was Rachel & Conor’s big day in Cardiff a few days ago. From start to finish, their celebration was packed with fun little twists that had everyone smiling (and made my job an absolute dream!).

The groom delivers his speech with a smile, making guests laugh during the wedding breakfast at Cardiff Golf Club. A woman raises her glass in a toast, while another guest wipes away tears of laughter.

My absolute favourite part? The raffle they held just after the wedding breakfast. Instead of going straight into the room turnaround, the couple decided to hand out raffle tickets to every guest, and the prizes were hilarious.

There were laughs all around, but the best moment had to be the grand prize winner being given the honour of cutting the wedding cake! Such a unique, playful way to break up the day and get everyone involved.

It’s these moments that I love to capture most. The way guests doubled over with laughter during the raffle, kids proudly parading their prizes around the room, none of it staged, all of it 100% real.

These candid photos are the ones that bring your wedding album to life. Years from now, when Rachel & Conor flip through their gallery, they won’t just see how beautiful everything looked, they’ll remember how it all felt.
