Everything you need to know about having your wedding at Llantillio House in Abergavenny
If you're dreaming of a countryside wedding that blends timeless charm with modern luxury, Llantilio House might just steal your heart (it stole mine as soon as I saw it). Nestled in the beautiful Monmouthshire countryside near Abergavenny and Usk, this private estate is fast becoming one of South Wales’ best-kept secrets for stylish, laid-back weddings.
I recently had the pleasure of photographing a gorgeous wedding here (and I’m already dying to go back!), so I thought I’d put together a little guide for couples who are considering this stunning venue for their own big day.
Where is Llantillio House?
Llantilio House is tucked away in the rolling hills between Usk and Abergavenny – meaning you get the best of both worlds: sweeping countryside views, but still easy access from the M4 and A40 for guests travelling from Cardiff, Bristol, or even further afield.
It’s peaceful, private, and utterly picturesque – you truly feel like you’re in your own little world for the few days you’ll be able to hire it for.
P.S. It’s literally 15 minutes from my house!
What makes a wedding at Llantillio House so special?
Think: classic country house elegance meets modern wedding luxury. Here’s what sets it apart:
Exclusivity: It’s a private estate, so when you book Llantilio House, it’s yours for the weekend. No other events, no strangers wandering around – just you and your favourite people. Including your incredible photographer (me).
The Views: Rolling green hills, golden fields, and the most glorious golden hour light. If you’re after dreamy couple portraits, this venue delivers. You can even see the sugarloaf!
The Accommodation: The house sleeps up to 22 guests, making it perfect for a weekend-long celebration. It feels more like a luxury home than a typical wedding venue – think log fires, freestanding tubs, and beautifully styled interiors.
Outdoor Ceremonies: If you’re lucky with the Welsh weather, the gardens are a perfect spot for a romantic al fresco ceremony.
The Reception Spaces: What ever vibe you’re going for, the estate gives you flexibility to style your wedding your way.
My experience photographing a relaxed wedding at Llantillio House
From a photographer’s perspective, this venue is a dream. The natural light is just beautiful throughout the house, and the outdoor spaces are full of little hidden gems for couple shots.
During the wedding I photographed, I captured everything from heartfelt vows in the barn to confetti showers on the lawn and golden hour portraits by the meadow. The whole day felt relaxed, joyful, and effortlessly chic – and the couple had the space and time to actually enjoy every minute.
Plus, if you’re after that documentary-style coverage – real moments, real laughter, and nothing too staged – Llantilio House gives you so much space to just be yourselves.
Also… did I mention the pool?!!!!!
My top tips for planning your Llantillio House wedding
Plan for a weekend-long celebration – With the gorgeous on-site accommodation, it’s the perfect place to host a welcome BBQ and pool party the night before and a chilled brunch the next morning, plus, you could utilise the sauna and plunge pool!
Hire a wedding planner or on-the-day coordinator – Because the estate is a dry hire venue, you’ll need to bring in your own suppliers. Having a pro to tie it all together will make your life so much easier.
Embrace the outdoors – Whether it’s a lawn ceremony, games in the garden, or sunset photos in the field, this venue is made for embracing the countryside setting.
Get creative with your set-up – Llantilio House is a blank canvas, so whether you’re going for boho, modern luxe, or classic country chic, your vision will truly shine here.
