What to expect from your South Wales Wedding Photography Timeline!

Your wedding day will be one of the most magical and memorable days of your life, and as your photographer, I’ll be there to capture every beautiful moment from start to finish. To help you feel prepared, here’s an overview of what you can expect from your full day wedding photography timeline with me - Honey & Heather!

Getting Ready – 3 Hours Before the Ceremony

I almost always arrive around three hours before the ceremony to capture the excitement of the morning. This includes:

  • Candid moments of you and your wedding party getting ready

  • Detail shots of your outfit, shoes, flowers, and accessories

  • Emotional moments, like the first look with your bridesmaids or parents

  • Final touches before heading to the ceremony

If your partner is getting ready nearby, I’ll also make sure to capture some pre-wedding moments with them too! Or, better yet, add a second shooter onto your photography package, and they’ll get their own dedicated photographer!

The Ceremony

During your ceremony, I work discreetly to document every heartfelt moment:

  • Your walk (or walk’s!) down the aisle

  • Your partner’s reaction, as well as the reactions of your guests

  • The vows and ring exchange

  • That first kiss as a married couple

  • Signing of the register + we’ll include your witnesses in these too!

  • Your walk back down the aisle as a newly married couple

I capture these moments in a natural, documentary style so you can relive them exactly as they happened.

Group and Family Formal Photos

After the ceremony, we’ll likely be going straight into your confetti. At this point, everyone wants to congratulate you both, and you guys will be gasping for a Bev, so I usually let you take five.

After I grab some candid photos, I’ll grab your close family members for formal photos. I recommend keeping the list concise to ensure a smooth and efficient process, allowing you to enjoy more time with your guests. I usually suggest an absolute maximum of 12 groups, here’s an example;

Couple + Partner 1’s entire Family

Couple + Partner 1’s close Family

Couple + Partner 1’s parents

Couple + Both sets of parents

Couple + Partner 2’s parents

Couple + Partner 2’s close Family

Couple + Partner 2’s entire Family

Couple + Entire Friend group

Couple + Bridesmaids

Couple + Bridal party (Bridesmaids & Groomsmen, usually)

Couple + Groomsmen

And, don’t forget, this will look different for every family! We’ve all got our family drama’s, so, if ya momma don’t talk to your uncle Bryn… don’t panic. We’ll chat about it <3

Couple Portraits – Twice in the Day

I love to take couples out twice during the day for portraits, especially if the welsh weather is playing ball!

After the Ceremony: This is the perfect time for your first portraits as a married couple. We’ll keep it relaxed, allowing you to soak in the moment together while capturing stunning images. If you’ve brought your dog/cat/horse, or you want some family photos with your babies, this is also the time to do that!

Golden Hour: Later in the evening, we’ll slip away for a short session during golden hour. This time of day creates the most romantic and flattering light, resulting in warm, dreamy portraits.

Reception and Evening Coverage

I stay to document all the key reception moments, including:

  • The speeches

  • Cake cutting

  • Your first dance

I typically stay 30-45 minutes after the first dance, depending on how lively the dance floor is. If the party is in full swing, I’ll capture plenty of fun, energetic shots before wrapping up. There usually tends to be a few people who keep the dance floor going, and honestly, there’s only so many pictures of your friend James you want doing the worm at 10pm… So, i’ll usually leave if i’ve got enough coverage! But, don’t panic, i’ll always check with you that you’re happy before I shoot off.

Your Wedding Story, Beautifully Told

Every wedding is unique, and my goal is to capture your day in a way that reflects your love, emotions, and all the little details that make it special. With a blend of documentary storytelling and timeless editorial portraits, you’ll have a beautiful gallery of images to cherish forever.
