The best Engagement session locations in Pembrokeshire!

Over this past two weekends, I have had the absolute pleasure of capturing both a wedding and an engagement session in Pembrokeshire. I was invited along to capture a gorgeous wedding at the most stunning venue- Gellifawr Woodland Retreat. Blog post coming on this one soon, stay tuned! & I also got asked by one of my 2024 couples whether they could have their engagement session with me down in Tenby (where they really got engaged!!!). Of course, I said YES!

As such, it’s only right that I start this incredible list with the one, the only.. Tenby!

Tenby

The most beautiful coastal town in South Wales

Tenby is such a beautiful place to visit. The amount of times I headed down south with my family as a child to explore the gorgeous coast. I have so many vivid memories of playing in the infamous arcade, sitting in many a beer garden & not to mention having rides in the horse and carriage that takes you around the bustling town.

Since being a wedding photographer, it’s been a bucket list item for me to shoot both an engagement & a wedding here in Tenby!

If you’re looking for a quaint & colourful beachside town to have your couple//engagement/wedding pictures taken, this is definitely it. Tenby has so many options when it comes to photographs. From the sand and sea, to the colourful brick and adorable pub-lined streets, to the grassy hill top overlooking the ocean- Tenby is a great place to have your engagement session with me!

The blue lagoon, Abereiddy

The most dramatic scenery in the South West of Wales

If you and your partner are a little bit more on the adventurous side of things (Like me!), you’ll have heard of this incredible location. The blue lagoon in Abereiddy is probably one of those places that I had heard about for years and years, but so few people I speak to have actually visited!

It really is one of those places that looks just like the photos. The water is incredibly blue, even on a rainy day like the photos above!

The blue lagoon in Aberieddy would 100% make an incredible backdrop for your couple photographs, and i’d even go as far to say that it would make an insane elopement location. You’ve got the busy part, right by the lagoon, but you’ve also got the cliffs to walk along, as well as the sandy (and, almost black) beach just a short walk away. It honestly reminds me of an Iceland/Scotland hybrid.

Barafundle Bay

The most beautiful beach in Pembrokeshire

I honestly hate to say that Barafundle Bay is my favourite on this list, just because of how well known it is. I’m usually more of a hidden-gem, off-the-beaten-path kind of girl myself, but I just can’t help myself here. There is a reason Barafundle Bay is one of the top places to visit in Pembrokeshire!

This little cove really does have that off the beaten path appeal, though, as it’s around a 15-20 minute walk to get to from the car park, and there’s a fair few stairs to climb to get to it as well!

Barafundle Bay would make such an excellent choice for your engagement session photos. Much like the Blue lagoon in Abereiddy, it’s got the beautiful sandy beach. However, the cliffs over this side of Pembrokeshire feel a lot less rugged, and a tad more romantic to me. They scream ‘wildflowers & romance’, which is exactly what a couple session would look like here!

The Huntsman’s Leap

This one almost didn’t make it on the list…

Okay okay. The Huntsman’s leap almost didn’t make it on this list, but only because of how obvious it felt to me. It’s very much the same kind of vibe to everywhere else i’ve spoken about before now. It’s got the dramatic cliffs, and it’s got the wildflowers, and honestly, it’s a bit hit & miss whether you can actually get there- due to the military using the area as a training ground.

But, that being said, it really is an epic place. The walk over from Saint Govan’s Chapel is fairly boring, but once you get to this massive split in the ground, it really just hits you how incredible this place is.

This is one of those locations that I just have SO many ideas of how to shoot a couple at. It could be so experimental and fun, and I am honestly just desperate to have a couple to shoot here! Imagine, you and your partner on either sides of the split.. so very dramatic and whimsical almost. Shivers.

Thank you so so much for reading! I absolutely adore the Pembrokeshire coast, and I hope I have inspired you to maybe have your engagement session in this beautiful part of Wales (with me, or with another photographer), or even to book your entire wedding here! I’d love to know, so feel free to reach out to me! I’m also so happy to give recommendations on specific photo spots, and parking spots/routes to take! x
