How to have incredible Wedding Photos, without spending hours away from your guests

One of the biggest worries I hear from couples is this:

"We want beautiful wedding photos… but we don't want to disappear for hours and miss our own wedding."

The good news is you don't have to choose between incredible photographs and an unforgettable day. I’m not the type of photographer that’s going to steal you away for ages. I’m the kind of photographer who is gonna let you eat your canapés, and laugh with your friends!! BUT… I’ll still get those stunning shots! (I just won’t need more than 20 minutes to do it)

As a South Wales & Worcestershire wedding photographer, my favourite galleries aren't the ones with hundreds of perfectly posed portraits. They're the ones filled with hugs and tears from grandparents, your friends crying with laughter during the speeches, drinks flowing in the sunshine, your dog stealing the show, and dance floors that never empty.

The most beautiful photographs happen when you're actually experiencing your wedding, not treating it like a photoshoot.

Your Wedding Isn't a Photoshoot

Your wedding literally only happens once.

The conversations you'll have with friends you've not seen for years.
The hugs from your parents, that we really do take for granted.
The laughter during your cocktail hour (and actually getting to drink the cocktails!!)
The spontaneous moments that nobody planned or anticipated.

Those memories are impossible to recreate.

That's why I believe photography should fit around your day…not the other way around.

My approach combines relaxed documentary storytelling with natural guidance and editorial portraits. You'll still receive beautiful, timeless images worthy of a magazine, but without feeling like you've spent your wedding constantly posing.

You Only Need Around 15–20 Minutes for Stunning Couple Portraits

This surprises almost every couple. Even the ones who think “Oh god, not us. We’re too awkward.”

I pinky promise!!!

When people imagine wedding portraits, they often picture disappearing for an hour or more.

But some of my favourite portraits have been created in just 15–20 minutes.

Because we're not trying to force hundreds of poses.

Instead, we focus on movement, energy and we follow wherever the light is good.

We'll wander through your venue, chat, laugh, maybe steal a quiet moment together, and before you know it you're back with your guests.

The result feels effortless because it literally is.

The Secret Is Your Timeline, Not More Time

Amazing photographs don't come from spending longer taking them.

They come from planning your day well.

A well-planned timeline means we can photograph:

  • the excitement of getting ready

  • genuine reactions during your ceremony

  • relaxed drinks with your guests

  • family photographs without them feeling rushed (but also getting them done… snappy)

  • 15–20 minutes of beautiful couple portraits

  • a quick golden hour escape if the light is perfect

  • every moment of the party afterwards

Instead of one long portrait session, I often recommend splitting things up naturally throughout the day.

Five minutes here.

Ten minutes there.

A quick walk outside as the sun sets.

You never feel like you've disappeared, but by the end of the day you'll have an incredible collection of portraits.

The Best Wedding Photos Happen When You're Having the Best Time

The couples I connect with most all have something in common.

They're not chasing perfection, they trust me to photograph the day as it is, as they’re experiencing it.

Maybe that's a countryside estate in Worcestershire where everyone stays for the weekend.

Maybe it's a relaxed garden wedding in the Cotswolds with wood-fired pizza and live music.

Maybe it's cocktails by the pool, lawn games, a sauna and ice bath the following morning, or breakfast together before everyone heads home.

Or maybe it's simply one day that feels completely true to you.

Those are the weddings where people slow down.

Where guests stay longer.

Where everyone relaxes.

And where the photographs are actually real.

Beautiful Doesn't Have to Mean Stiff

One of the biggest myths in wedding photography is that editorial photographs require endless posing.

I HATE that!!!

Some of the most striking images come from really simple “normal” moments:

Walking hand in hand.

A quiet laugh between the two of you.

Wind catching your veil.

Holding each other for a few seconds longer than usual.

I'll gently guide you when needed, but I'll never leave you wondering what to do next or ask you to spend an hour recreating Pinterest poses.

The goal is photographs that feel luxurious, stylish and completely authentic to you.

Thinking Beyond the Wedding Day

Some of my favourite celebrations are the ones that feel less like a wedding and more like a weekend away with your favourite people.

The pizza night.

Morning coffee together.

Swimming.

Garden games.

Long conversations around a fire pit.

These moments often become just as meaningful as the ceremony itself.

As more couples choose wedding weekends across Worcestershire and the UK, I love documenting the whole experience, not just the formalities. It also is just so lovely to truly get to know everyone, and experience the vibe of the entire wedding myself as well. I love it when I get invited along for every part.

Looking for a Relaxed Wedding Photographer in Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, or South Wales?

If you're planning a wedding that values connection over perfection, beautiful portraits without disappearing for hours, and photographs that tell the full story of your day, I'd love love loveee to hear from you.

Whether you're planning an elegant country house wedding, a full wedding weekend with all your favourite people, or an intimate celebration somewhere completely unique, my goal is always the same:

To create timeless, editorial images while giving you the freedom to enjoy every minute of your wedding.

Because the best wedding photographs do NOT come from standing still.

They come from living the day you've spent so long planning.
