Should you have an outdoor wedding ceremony in the UK? If these photos are anything to go by- YES, YOU SHOULD. But you should also be prepared for things to go wrong. More often than not, it’s raining here, which is probably your main concern for not having an outdoor ceremony. It’s a very hit & miss plan to have, but there are definitely some steps you can take to prepare for the worst!

Choosing a venue is the first thing you do with the planning of any wedding, but its particularly important if you’re hoping to have an outdoor ceremony. There are some absolutely gorgeous Wedding Venues all over the UK, but you have to be sure that the interior of the venue matches the beauty of the outdoors. If you’re hoping to get married outside, and then it rains, you’ll have to bring the wedding inside- so you need to be sure that you’ll be happy with the way that looks!

I’ve photographed a few weddings where the entire day has been outside, with no option of heading inside. In this case- be sure to hire a marquee or tent. There are plenty of companies out there that offer this service. Not only for the chance of rain, but at times the heat is a little too much for people (especially the kiddies, or older folks, + your sweaty photographer(.

Another thing to note if you’re having an outdoor ceremony is having extra amenities. If it’s going to be a warm one, try to have some bottles of water for everybody, or hot chocolate if it’s a wintery day!

It’s definitely possible to have an outdoor ceremony in the UK, and i’d honestly advise trying to. They look incredible in pictures, and if the weather is beautiful, it just allows you more time to enjoy it! Obviously there’s a little more to consider, but it’s absolutely doable <3
