Beach Sunsets, Mountain Views & City Nights: A Wedding Photographer’s Weekend

There’s something about that first proper wedding weekend of the year.

The early starts, the buzz, the feeling of being back doing what you love again… I genuinely forgot how much I missed it. And if this weekend is anything to go by, this season is going to be incredible.

Every wedding I photograph this year also feels a little bit bigger. Each one is a step closer to my move to Australia (which still doesn’t feel real), and it’s so exciting knowing I’ve already got two weddings booked out there - one in Sydney in my first week of landing, and another on the Gold Coast later in the year.

But before all of that… this weekend reminded me exactly why I love what I do so much.

A Beachy Start at Cobbles Kitchen, Bridgend

Friday was spent second shooting for the lovely Jordan Collins at Cobbles Kitchen in Bridgend, just a short drive from Ogmore and one of my favourite beaches in South Wales - Southerndown.

Luke & Abi’s wedding couldn’t have been a more perfect start to the weekend. The whole day just felt easy. The sun was out, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the team at Cobbles made everything run so smoothly that you could just… enjoy it.

And Abi’s dress? Honestly, one of the most stunning dresses I’ve ever seen. The kind where you immediately think, if I was getting married, that’s exactly what I’d want. It also happened to be her birthday, which just added to the whole feel-good energy of the day.

We ended the evening down at Southerndown beach for sunset portraits, and it was one of those moments that just reminds you how lucky you are to do this job. Golden light, sea air, no pressure - just letting them be together while I captured it all.

Elegant Mountain Views at Peterstone Court, Brecon Beacons

Saturday was a completely different setting, but just as special.

Francesca & Ross were married at Peterstone Court, right in the heart of the Brecon Beacons - and it honestly couldn’t have suited them more. They absolutely adore the mountains, and I actually photographed their proposal not far from where they said their vows, which made the whole day feel even more meaningful.

The ceremony was held overlooking the mountains, and as a guest you could literally look up and see Pen y Fan in the distance. It’s one of those views that doesn’t feel real. Even if I do see it on a daily basis…

The whole day had such an elegant feel to it - Francesca’s beautifully simple dress, the thoughtful details, everything just felt refined without trying too hard.

And then there was Bentley… their dog, who completely stole the show. He spent the day happily wandering around, taking everything in, and of course delivered the rings down the aisle like a pro.

It was emotional, calm, and just perfect. I was also working alongside Lee from Leelea Films, which always makes a wedding day even better - when your team is relaxed and in sync, everything flows.

A Bridal Boudoir Session in Cardiff

Sunday slowed things down slightly, with a bridal boudoir session in Cardiff city centre.

This one felt really special - it was for an old school friend, which always adds a different layer to the experience. She booked the shoot as a gift for her partner ahead of their wedding in Italy next year, which is such a beautiful (and very underrated) idea.

We shot in my usual moody city location, using lots of stunning Lounge bridal pieces, and the whole session had that mix of softness and confidence that I love about boudoir.

These sessions are never just about the photos - it’s about how someone feels during and after. And seeing that shift in confidence, especially in someone you’ve known for years, is something I’ll never take for granted.

Edgy City Vibes in Bristol

By Monday, we were in a completely different world again.

Ellie & Chris were married at Bristol Registry Office, followed by confetti right outside (which always feels iconic in the middle of a city), before heading off for couple portraits around Bristol.

Their whole vibe was effortlessly cool - slightly edgy, a bit indie, almost Wes Anderson-inspired in the way they carried themselves and styled their day.

The reception was held in a hired bar with rustic, industrial details - the kind of place that feels relaxed but still has loads of character. It was the perfect way to end the weekend, especially because it was so different from everything else.

I was also working with Arron from Film & Pixel, which made the whole day feel super chilled and easy.

Why this weekend was so great

Four days. Four completely different weddings.

A beach sunset, mountain views, an intimate boudoir session, and a cool city celebration — and honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing.

This is exactly why I’ll never get bored of weddings.

No two days are the same, and that’s what keeps it exciting. I don’t want repetitive. I don’t want copy-and-paste timelines. I want creativity, different energy, different people, different stories.

And if anything, this weekend made me even more excited for what’s to come - especially knowing that beach weddings like Friday’s are going to become a much bigger part of my life very soon.

Planning Your Own Wedding?

If you’re currently planning your wedding and want a photographer who’s just as comfortable shooting barefoot on a beach as they are in the mountains or a city bar - I’d love to hear from you.

I’m currently booking Summer 2026 and also a few dates for May 2027, with a focus on South Wales, the Brecon Beacons, and beyond.

And if you’re considering a bridal boudoir session alongside your wedding? Even better.
