A Gorgeous Spring Pencoed House Wedding Day

Some wedding days just have that spark — and Caitlyn & Joel’s spring wedding at the stunning Pencoed House Estate was overflowing with it. As a South Wales wedding photographer, getting to capture such a joyful, relaxed, and emotional celebration is exactly why I do what I do.

But this one was even more special, because Caitlyn is a childhood friend of mine— which made being part of her and Joel’s day such a lovely, full-circle moment.

A Big, Beautiful South Wales Wedding

Held on April 10th, 2025, Caitlyn & Joel’s wedding brought together all of their friends and family for a day that was the perfect mix of elegant and fun. With gorgeous spring sunshine, an outdoor drinks reception, and the best kind of party vibes, it truly felt like a celebration of everything they've built together — especially with their adorable little boy, Harlen, right there in the middle of it all.

Why Pencoed House Estate is a Dream South Wales Wedding Venue

If you’re planning your wedding and hunting for a South Wales venue with rustic charm, character, and stunning outdoor spaces — Pencoed House Estate is one to put at the top of your list.

Caitlyn & Joel knew it was the one the moment they saw it. With its historic stone barn, sweeping grounds, and tucked-away location just outside Cardiff, it has everything you’d want from a countryside wedding venue.

And when your mum is a wedding florist (shoutout to Caitlyn’s talented mum, Nicola!), the flowers are always going to be next level — think vibrant spring pinks and burnt oranges, styled beautifully to match the bridesmaids' dresses and the groomsmen’s light suits.

Getting Ready: Calm Vibes and Happy Tears

The morning was all about calm excitement — Caitlyn got ready with her bridesmaids and mum, who was busy being both florist and mother-of-the-bride (superwoman, basically!). One of the sweetest moments was when Caitlyn stepped out in her dress for the first time and the room just melted — happy tears all round from her parents and best girls.

As a south Wales wedding photographer, these quiet, in-between moments are some of my favourites to capture. And with details like Caitlyn’s stunning dress and shoes, there was no shortage of beautiful things to photograph.

A Ceremony Full of Love… and Laughter

The indoor ceremony space at Pencoed House was glowing with light, warmth, and emotion. From Joel’s reaction to seeing Harlen walk down the aisle, to the giggles when Harlen let out a few loud “ROARs” during the vows (what a legend!) — it was such a genuine, heart-filled moment.

It’s moments like these that remind me why I love documentary-style wedding photography — no stiff poses, just real life and real emotion.

Golden Hour Portraits & The Most Beautiful Backdrops

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed drinks and canapés in the sunshine, while we snuck away for some group shots in the shade up by the terrace. The bridal party portraits took place down by the bridge, with the venue peeking out behind — the perfect mix of natural light and historic charm.

And just before the dancing kicked off, I managed to sneak Caitlyn & Joel away for some golden hour magic. We wandered the grounds, capturing relaxed, romantic portraits as the sun dipped behind the trees — honestly, these are some of my favourite shots of the whole day.

An Unforgettable Party

To top it all off? An incredible live band and a guest list full of party animals. The dance floor was full all night long, and the energy was unreal. As a fun and relaxed wedding photographer, there’s nothing better than snapping your guests mid-dance move, hands in the air, drinks in hand.

Planning a Pencoed House Wedding?

If you’re newly engaged and dreaming of your own wedding at Pencoed House Estate, I’d love to be part of it. Whether you’re planning a spring wedding like Caitlyn & Joel, or going for a cosy autumn vibe, this venue is truly one of the gems of South Wales wedding photography.

My approach is all about capturing the real stuff — the laughter, the nerves, the sneaky kisses and wild dance moves — so you can relive your day exactly as it felt. If that sounds like your vibe, I’d love to hear from you.
