Alix & Nathan

Even in the lead up to this session I had high hopes. I mean, a gorgeous couple in a beautiful part of the world? It’s hard to take a bad photo!

Ynys Llandwyn is one of my all time favourite places and so when I was discussing locations with Alix & Nathan, it was the first place I thought of. If you haven’t explored this part of Wales, then it is a MUST for your travel bucket-list.

The session itself had to be an early one, due to the island only being accessible during low tide. We were initially hoping for a sunrise, however, typical Welsh weather didn’t feel like catering for all our needs. Though- it stayed dry. Hallelujah! Often, the places I take my couples for these sessions are a slight trek away from where we park the cars.. but, I really do believe this only adds to the adventure of it all. I often say to couples that our sessions together really are like an adventurous day out. (Or two hours, if we’re being specific.) I’m essentially your third wheel for the day, looking in on your dynamic and connection as a couple- capturing the moments you share throughout our time.

I like to keep my work mostly natural and representative of the bond you as a family have already worked so hard at developing. Of course, however, there are moments that I like to be a little more creative in my approach. For instance.. bringing out a smoke grenade!

The funny thing about this smoke grenade was that I had actually planned for it to be red. (But, due to my clearly God-awful reading skills) it turned out to be blue. This whole ordeal only seemed to add to the excitement of using the grenade in the first place- getting a few bad jokes (on my part) and natural laughter.

We managed to capture some very real and intimate moments, as well as the silly faces, belly laughing and excitement. It all added to the experience, and made for a great session.
